I posted the following question to Justin and would like to hear from everyone. This is just a rough idea, so everyone feel free to offer ideas and suggestions and everything. Justin’s suggestion is to make it Richmond based, but to have work from artists outside of Richmond as well. Here is the message and a random question to have this post available for suggestions:
For the last few months I’ve been thinking about starting an underground magazine, a sort of booklet of art by local artists. To have it be something that is not filtered, not censored in any way and shows the works and creations of artists in the Richmond area. To have some issues just be free of topics and a compilation of work, while others having a specific topic and that topic being translated into various forms of art to document how each form approaches the same issue.
Then i thought about the Social Sculpture and how perfect it would be to have an art magazine based on the works of everyone that is a member. To have it be a way to showcase our work to others that don’t know about Tumblr or Google Wave. To have the magazine/booklet another sort of medium to collect the work of the artists involved. To have the members be the contributers.
